Dissertation/thesis title: Beyond the fat: protein metabolism and muscle function as part of the migratory syndrome of songbirds
Research Interests
I'm interested in the phyisological mechanisms that allow songbirds to complete their incredible migratory journeys. Specifically, I'm studying the seasonal changes in a bird's capacity to complete migratory flights, from the whole-organism to molecular level. I'm also interested in whether these pre-migratory changes convey an ability to cope with challenging environmental conditions encountered during migration.
