In collaboration with Jeff Podos and David Lahti, my research involved searching for nestling swamp sparrows in the Quabbin Reservoir. We maintained a banded population for 6 seasons, and would mark and take blood samples from baby birds. I am sitting in soggy sedges as I take data from each individual in the nest. Here pictured is the runt of the litter - about 3-4 days old, but very small for this age.
