Field of Study: Molecular interactions between symbiotic legumes and rhizobia bacteria
Legume plants have the amazing ability to thrive in soils that have limited nitrogen-content because they are able to convert atmospheric inert nitrogen gas into the more accessible ammonia. They achieve this by forming a symbiotic relationship with nitrogen-fixing rhizobia bacteria. The Wang lab aims to understand the molecular basis of this symbiotic relationship. My research interest is to contribute to the identification and understanding of candidate symbiotic genes responsible during the different stages of the symbiotic interaction.
