December 1 is the deadline for the receipt of application materials for acceptance into the Ph.D. program beginning the following fall.

April 15 is the deadline for the receipt of application materials for acceptance into the Master's of Science program. Only students who have an undergraduate degree from UMass, Amherst, or one of the other 5-colleges in the area (Amherst, Hampshire, Smith or Mt. Holyoke) are eligible for the MS program. M.S. students are required to have a home laboratory PRIOR to admission, and the student's advisor must be a member of the MCB Program.

Required Application Materials:

A file will generally not be reviewed until all application materials have been received.

A bachelor's degree from a qualified college or university is required or expected prior to the program's start date. Applicants are expected to have taken college-level courses in Biology, Organic Chemistry, Calculus, and Physics. GRE scores for the General Exam or Subject Tests can be submitted to supplement the application, but are not required.
